Hot flavorsome tea with traditional pastry (“Moscow kalach”, “sayka”, “gubnik”, “nalivaynik”) and stories about breadmaking in imerial Russia!
Dear Friends,
We are glad to invite you to a traditional Russian “chaepitie” (tea ceremony) at LPQ Philippov.
The first Philippov bakery was opened in the 19th century and was located at Tverskaya 10. It soon grew into a successful franchise which flourished until the 1917 revolution, when bakeries were nationalized and stripped of their owners and identity.
In 2017, Le Pain Quotidien decided to revive Philippov. They found a venue not far from the original bakery and used old photos as a basis for its interior design. Of course, they also included the old pastry recipes in the menu. These recipes are exactly what well be discovering on a late morning, surrounded by the aroma of fresh bread and surrounded by friendly people.
